TAG’s Rugged iSCSI (R-iSCSI) Storage Server Solutions allow for economical centralization of storage without the usual expense and incompatibilities normally associated with Fibre Channel storage area networks (SANs). Where simplicity, flexibility, and price/performance are critical IT requirements, the R-iSCSI is especially appealing because it facilitates solutions that provide rapid and efficient transport of block-level I/O data.

iSCSI technology leverages existing knowledge of Ethernet and SCSI. As a result, unlike Fibre Channel SAN, TAG’s R-iSCSI can run over existing Ethernet networks providing for smooth migration and simplified administration.

R-iSCSI, powered by Open-E software, increases the capabilities and performance of storage data transmission in the SAN environment, offering the best combination of data throughput, security, compatibility, management, cost effectiveness and flexibility.

Integrated technologies from SAN, such as a scheduled snapshot function, IPsec, Adaptive Load Balancing, Online Logical Volume Expansion, multi-CPU support, and real time synchronous volume replication make R-iSCSI a serious alternative to Fibre Channel SANs.

Rugged iSCSI Storage Server Features
  • Secured Administration Access: Requires administrators to use SSL to access and configure iSCSI software and allows users to assign different administrator rights to multiple administrators.

  • Multiple Network Interface Card (NIC) Support: TAG’s R-iSCSI supports the use of two or more network cards to access separate sub-networks. It also allows users to select the services to be enabled on a specified NIC.

  • Adaptive Load Balancing: Enhances performance by automatically routing data through several alternative paths or storage adapters as application needs change.

  • Adapter Fault Tolerance: Adapter Fault Tolerance assures greater reliability by providing a secondary storage adapter that automatically takes over if the primary storage adapter fails.

  • Multi-Snapshot with scheduling function: Allows users to take a snapshot at a specified time (e.g., automatically every hour). If a user accidentally deletes or incorrectly modifies a file, the data can still be recovered from a previous snapshot image.

  • Network Client Support: Supports Microsoft Windows, Linux, UNIX, Novell Netware, Apple.

  • Replication: TAG’s R-iSCSI supports real time synchronous volume replication. This configuration of two (2) R-iSCSI arrays provides a means for two geographically diverse volumes to be kept continuously synchronized.

  • Save and Restore: TAG’s R-iSCSI provides a simplified mechanism to save and restore the system configuration.
