Sun Solaris Machines
Which version of Solaris supports USB devices?

Solaris 8 and 9 are the only versions of Solaris that support the use of USB devices. If you plug a USB keyboard into a system running Solaris 7, the machine will begin printing random or continuous groups of symbols to the screen.

The Antares PCI Cool Audio Sound cards, which are in some TAG built Solaris O/S based machines, are not supported in Solaris 9. Due to the Open Windows GUI being discontinued after Solaris 8, the necessary drivers for the audio card will no longer be a part of the Solaris O/S. If you are going to upgrade your O/S to Solaris 9, you will lose the use of the audio card. The manufactures of the card have made no decision to update their drivers, at this time.
